Description
The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the garage for Reliable Tank and Quality Oil Company, LLC. This position will oversee and work closely with shop mechanics to complete the daily operations for the company's fleet of medium and heavy duty trucks. The Fleet Maintenance Manager will maintain relationships with vendors for parts and service that will assist in this position. This position requires a working knowledge of the tools and equipment required to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair problems with diesel and gasoline engines, manual and automatic vehicle suspensions, braking systems, etc. The Fleet Maintenance Manager will maintain all maintenance records and must be current on all DOT and EPA standards, policies, and procedures.
Duties
- Responsible for the scheduling and review of all required truck maintenance for Reliable Tank Line and Quality Oil Company including inspection, repair, and routine maintenance
- Responsible for the response to regular maintenance and driver noted defects in tractors to include the electrical system, brake system, suspension, fifth wheel, power take off, heating and AC system, safety equipment, decals and labels.
- Responsible for maintaining all service and repair records
- Evaluation and recommendation of fleet concerning new and replacement equipment and parts as needed
- Investigate parts and supplies available from various vendors in order to obtain the highest quality, cost effective products.
- Maintenance and replacement of tires as needed
- Hose maintenance, inspection and repair as applicable
- Inspection, calibration, and operation of all meters and gauges used in the maintenance and repair process.
- Federal D.O.T. highway inspections for tractors and tank trailers
- Trailer repair and maintenance of the electrical system, air brakes, suspension, running gear, piping and valves, and safety equipment
- Participation and response in a rotating on-call schedule
- Direct supervision and guidance of company mechanics
- Organization and inventory of shop materials
- Organization, distribution, and supervision of shop assignments and workload
- Communication with the Senior Vice President via pre-set computer program, excel/word documents, email, extranet, telephone, etc of shop needs, truck repairs, issues needing guidance, etc.
Requirements:
- 7 + years as a diesel mechanic
- 2+ years of supervisory experience
- Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement
- Clean driving record
- Strong organizational skills
- Applicable Computer skills (experience with Microsoft word, excel, outlook)
